Scratch is a block-based visual programming language and integrated development engine (IDE) developed to introduce and teach children coding. Scratch is taught and used in after-school centers, schools, and colleges and is a great way for people of all ages to get introduced to programming.
Features of Scratch
The Scratch IDE is extremely simple and uses drag-and-drop mechanisms for the user to input the “code”. The code comes in the form of different types of visual blocks, whose attributes can be changed easily. Scratch is an event-driven programming with multiple active objects called “sprites”. Sprites are applied an image by the user, which they can draw or upload. Once a Scratch program has been completed, the user can test the program from the IDE.
